My name is Calie and I have been an avid quilter for over a decade! I started my business selling quilted items and doing quilt repair over 10 years ago, but switched to long arm quilting, quilt repair and quilt finishing services about 2 years ago.  I have quilted thousands of quilts and repaired a few hundred. I live and work in a smoke and pet free environment. I do not make or sell quilts, I just help you get yours done! I work in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, but I also accept quilts by mail! Vintage Beauties Finished

These two gorgeous quilts came to me as quilt tops that were hand basted to their batting and back, ready to be hand quilted. Sadly, their quilter had passed before they got quilted. The new owners wanted these quilted and finished without taking away from the blocks. Both of these quilts were stitched in the ditch with the flying geese having a meander in the sashing and on the borders.  The new owners wanted the back to be the binding and the binding to be at least 1.5 inches wide.

New Back to Give it a New Life
This beautiful quilt needed a new back.  What does that entail, you ask?  The binding has to come off for a moment, then the new quilt back has to be made, prepped and loaded onto the long arm.  For this quilt, re-quilting it was as simple as just tracing over the old quilting while trying to keep the original quilting stitches visible to honor the original quilter. This quilt had a twist to it! There was ric-rac stitched on top of ribbon which together was stitched all the way around the quilt. There was some kind of mishap at one point in this quilts history that required a lot of visible stitching to fix it and this ric-rac/ribbon was covering that up. Clever, huh?! When I took off the binding I discovered that this quilt had (1) the quilt top (2) a layer of black & green fleece (3) batting (4) original backing that had a lot of patch places on the back and now with the new backing makes the fifth layer! After this quilt was long arm quilted it was ready for the binding to be re-ironed and reapplied to the quilt! What a neat quilt this one turned out to be!
Baby Blanket to Baby Quilt
This is an 80 year old family knit blanket.  It's owner was given it when he was a baby and then it was handed down to all five of his brothers before being handed around the family over the last 80 years.  Now it's original owner is ready to hand it off to their first great grandson.  The blanket had some tattered edges but nothing more significant than that.  They wanted this blanket to be more like a quilt so I added a back and batting. I quilted it in footballs per their request. The new baby's dad was a big deal in football so quilting footballs seemed just right.  Amazingly, the original blanket was still very much square and only the tattered edges needed to be trimmed before this got bound.
