Long Arm Quilting

Creations by Calie is sew happy to offer long arm quilting services both locally and by mail. I do all of my machine quilting on a non-computerized Babylock Crown Jewel II long arm machine. At this time, I only offer simple edge-to-edge quilting and pantograph designs. I use pantographs from Urban Elementz and I use King Tut, Omni and Micro Quilter thread. Please feel free to click the Urban Elementz link above to browse their selection and write the name of your prefered design on your quilt work-up sheet. If you do not know what design or thread color you would like, I am more than happy to help you pick out the right design and thread color through a scheduled video meeting.

Due to the size of my quilting frame, I do not long arm quilt tops larger than 100 inches on its smallest side.

Quilting rate is $0.02 per square inch, simple edge-to-edge and pantograph

I am not accepting custom quilting at this time.

To calculate square inch multiply the length of your quilt by the width of your
quilt. A "45x60" quilt would be 2,700 square inches and would cost $54 to
             have long arm quilted.

Average wait time is 4-6 weeks from the date I receive your quilt. Once I receive your quilt, I will e-mail you with an approximate date that I will ship your quilt back to you.

For local customers meeting me in person, I prefer payment in cash.  If paying via Paypal, a 3% fee will be applied.

All invoices are to be paid within 28 days of receipt. If no payment has been received within that time frame your quilt becomes property of Creations by Calie.

Hand Quilting

Creations by Calie is sew happy to offer hand quilting services both locally and by mail. I do all of my hand quilting using a traditional small stitch.  When it comes to the quilting design you can do the marking of the quilting design yourself, or I can do it for you. If you are not sure what design to use, I am happy to help. I'll consider different quilting templates and lines of quilting, the age and era of the quilt top, who the quilt is for, the feeling you'd like to evoke, and more.  You will be presented with several options from which to choose and I will go with what you like the best.

If you do not know what design or thread color you would like, I am more than happy to help you pick out the right design and thread color through a scheduled video meeting.

Gees Bend Batik

This quilt is a special thank you quilt for a dear friend and former president of a local guild. I had the pleasure of serving under her for 2 years.  During her reign as president she was working on Gees Bend quilts and loves batiks.  When her term was coming to an end I sent an email out to the guild with directions for each member to make a thank you block using this particular Gees Bend pattern and batik fabrics. When I presented the blocks to her I told her I would do the long arming for her because I knew this quilt would be way to big for her to do on her sit down long arm.

Underground Railroad

This Underground Railroad quilt was made by a client and hung at the Chesapeake Central Library in an exhibit titled Black Resilience: The Underground Railroad and Beyond presented by the African American Sewcial Threaders Quilt Guild. To learn more about this guild click here .
